WiP Wednesday… A Trip to the Frog Pond

Hi there! I am a HUGE figure skating fan, so I am drifting through these days tired as can be since I am staying up to see all the figure skating live. But I am LOVING it! I am so looking forward to the Ladies long program tomorrow night! 🙂

Anyway, I finished up my Mosaic washcloths for my upcoming class at Cheers to Ewe! – I really love these! There are still a few spots left in the class, so hurry up and sign up here if you are interested!

On my needles at the moment are my new socks that will be in the Summer issue of Cast On. These are cuff down. I don’t know how I’m going to do the heel yet – it’s a design decision I will make once I get there! 🙂 Sometimes I fly by the seat of my pants when I’m designing – not often, but sometimes!

Sneak Peek! Isn’t this color wonderful!!??

So, a while ago I bought some fantastic yarn from The Copper Corgi to do a sweater with, and I made this sweater:

Instead of designing something myself as I had originally planned, I went with a pattern that I liked the look of. Well, even a Master Knitter can end up with a sweater that doesn’t fit right despite her best intentions. (Or this Master Knitter can and does now and then!) I was unhappy with the fit at the armhole and with the look of the front button band. I was going to try to steek the armhole and add a gusset underneath, but then I decided that was too much trouble. I love this yarn way too much to have it sit in a mediocre sweater that I won’t wear. So to the Frog Pond we go! I can’t bear the thought of this lovely yarn not being worn and in a garment that is loved. Sometimes frogging is necessary!

Step One: undo the tail weaves.

Step Two: Remove the buttons. (Through a very careful use of scissors…) Just one accidental cut was made… oops!

Step Three: Remove the buttonbands.

Step Four: Start to unravel from the top down…

The sleeves fit fine, so I put those on waste yarn. But the body is too snug, so that whole thing needed to be frogged.

Step Five: Reblock the yarn…

Step Six: Figure out what the heck I am going to do as the new sweater!

I’ll keep you posted on what I decide to do. It will definitely still be a colorwork yoke style sweater, with the blue band at the bottom, and at the neck. But I’m going to design my own so that I know it will fit this time. 🙂 It might be a while before I get to it, though. We’ll see how much ‘me time’ knitting I can get around to here in the next few weeks.

Until next time, Happy Knitting (or frogging!)
