You know how I said last Monday that I’d have a FO post for my shawl soon? And maybe have some Master Knitter swatches to show you? Well, I didn’t bank on getting super sick later that day. Strep throat, ear infection, sinus infection, and now a major cough. I’m on the mend now, but for a few days there I was pretty much bed-ridden. On the up-side I was able to finished a few WiPs during all that time resting! I have yet to get some nice photos of my shawl for you – so you won’t see it today (hopefully you will in the next couple of days, though), but here’s what I finished while I was sick:
Twilight Socks:
Pattern: basic generic stockinette sock
Yarn: Tempted Hand Painted Good Grrl in color Twilight
Needles: US 1.5
I wanted the yarn to shine through, so I just did a stockinette sock. I casted on 68 stitches and did a K2P2 rib for an inch or so, and then gradually decreased by 4 stitches over the plain stockinette cuff. I did an Eye of Partridge heel, with garter edges, and then a basic wedge toe. I love the way it turned out.
I don’t know how they got the single stitch of white randomly placed in the yarn, but it’s fantastic!
Coriolis Socks:
Pattern: Coriolis Socks by Cat Bordhi
Yarn: Araucania Ranco Multy in color Aztec
Needles: US 1.5
I had done the first sock in preparation for a class I taught, and then the second sock just sat around for a while after I was done with the class. I pretty much stuck to the pattern and I did a rolled cuff to finish.
I’m not sure that I like how they fit all that much, but they do look cool!
Socks for Hubby:
Pattern: my own ‘Willliam’s Socks – Expanded’ (to be released soon)
Yarn: Patons Kroy Socks 4 Ply in color Flax
Needles: US 2
This pattern has kind of taken a back seat to several other things I have going on right now, but as soon as I get a couple more test knits done for it I’ll be able to release it. Hubby really likes his new socks – he says they’re ‘comfy’. Can’t get any better than that, huh?
So that’s what I’ve been up to. I made a bit of a dent in my hibernating WiPs pile, so I only have 6 things on the needles now! 🙂 I’m itching to start something new now that I’ve finished a few of my lingering projects. But I do still have another shawl on the needles that I should probably finish first…
I’m surprised there are ANY WIPs left in your house after your repeated bouts of the crud! Amazing work! I want to make your socks, William’s Socks!
It’s so interesting with your Twilight socks, they almost look crocheted because of the way the colors lay. Before I got an up close look at them in the picture, I could have sworn you were hookin’ while you were sick!
🙂
I wasn’t sure how the pattern would translate to adult sizes (my child version is already available right now for free), but it seems to have translated very well! They are a *very* smooshy pair of socks! I’m anxious to test out the women’s size now so I can have a pair for me!
