Here’s my finished Maple Wing shawl!
Pattern: Maplewing by Anne Hanson
Yarn: Schaefer Yarn Company Audrey yarn in color Julia Child. (50/50 Merino/ Silk)
Needles: US 5
Started: January 5, 2011
Finished: February 27, 2011
Pre-blocked size: about 27 by 55 inches.
Blocked size: 48 by 78 inches
Modifications: none. I knit the tall size as written. I really should have knit the petite size, but I actually like how big this turned out – it’s practically a blanket!
I’m extremely happy with this shawl. It was my first bottom-up shawl, and my first pattern-every-row shawl as well. It was an easy lace pattern to memorize, so the every row patterning wasn’t that difficult. There’s something to be said for your rows getting shorter and shorter as you go instead of longer and longer! 🙂 I had to buy a third skein to finish it (one of the drawbacks of bottom-up shawls – you can’t bind off early if you’re about to run out of yarn!) – so now I have about 2/3 of a skein of the Audrey yarn left. But I’m sure I can find something to knit with it.
I’m most certainly addicted to shawls now, I have another one on the needles right now! 🙂
Such an amazing piece of art!!! I love everything about it!
It’s beautiful, Heather—-I’m getting addicted to shawls also (sigh).
