Sock September

Sock September 2022 – Get Ready, Get Set!

Tomorrow!

Are you ready? The KAL pattern is out (see yesterday’s blog post) — available on Ravelry and PayHip!

Today I posted a video introducing the month — view it here.

On Friday, the first video of the series will be released, talking about sock yarns and what to look for. If you haven’t picked out your yarns for the KAL yet, see if that video will give you some insights into what to look for.

Homework

If you want to play along with the heel types I cover in my videos this month, here’s some homework you can work. The first heel type will be released on 9/7, so you have plenty of time!

Yarn needed: worsted, sport, DK, or fingering yarn in a light color.

Needles needed: Appropriately sized needles to the yarn (size 4 or 5 or so for worsted, 3 or so for DK and sport, and 1 or 2 for fingering), set of dpns, or two 16” circulars, or one long circular for magic loop.

Using yarn and needles, cast on 40 sts using your preferred cast on method and join to work in the round. Work 10 rounds in k1, p1 ribbing and leave the knitting on the needles.

Who is going to join me this month?

Happy Knitting!!

    1. Yes, but only a very short bit earlier. Since some whole rounds are worked in between the wedges it does add a tiny bit of length through the instep (as opposed to a true short row heel that is worked completely isolated from the instep stitches.)
