Today’s Sock September video talks about a couple of heel stitch patterns. You can of course work your heel flap in whatever stitch pattern you like! But there are a couple “traditional” stitch patterns that you typically see in sock patterns.
These are very similar to each other, you just stagger the placement of the slipped stitches for Eye of Partridge, and they stay in the same column for Heel stitch.
Here are those patterns if you’d like to try them out:
Heel Stitch (over even # of sts)
Row 1 (RS): *S1 purlwise wyib, k1; rep from *.
Row 2 (WS): S1 purlwise wyif, purl to end.
Repeat Rows 1 and 2 to desired Heel Flap depth.
Eye of Partridge Stitch (over even # of sts)
Row 1 (RS): *S1 purlwise wyib, k1; rep from *.
Row 2 (WS): S1 wyif, purl to end.
Row 3: S1 purwise wyib, *s1 purlwise wyib, k1; rep from * to last st, k1.
Row 4: S1 purlwise wyif, purl to end.
Repeat Rows 1-4 to desired Heel Flap depth.
Our next Sock September post will be on Wednesday! Until then, Happy Knitting!!
Thanks for this, Heather. I LOVE the look of Eye of Partridge.
