Today’s video is on the most basic sock heels — no heels at all!! Tube socks are a great option if you don’t know the size of a recipient’s foot, or if you want to get the most wear out of a pair of socks for a growing child.
Adding a spiraling ribbing pattern helps to bias the fabric and make it fit around a heel much better.
If you want to play along and try these out, here’s a pattern to follow—
Tutorial Pattern:
Work Sock Heel Homework first (found here), or work from another heel in the series.
Work 5 rounds in k2, p2 ribbing.
Work 5 rounds: p1, (k2, p2) to 3 sts from the end, k2, p1.
Work 5 rounds: p2, k2.
Work 5 rounds: k1, (p2, k2) to to 3 sts from the end, p2, k1.
Work 6 rounds in stockinette stitch to give separation for next heel.
Leave sts on the needle for the next heel.
Stay tuned on Friday for the next video and post in the Sock September series!! Until then, Happy Knitting!
