New Year, New Designs

Hello! Happy New Year everyone!  🙂

I’ve had a couple new designs (and an article) published since I last checked in!

An article on Thrumming and a pattern for a thrummed cowl and hand muff (Arctic Cowl and Muff) was published in the newest Cast On.  This is the first all-digital Cast On issue – and it is a great issue! Chock full of great patterns and articles.

More recently I had a hat and cowl set published in the newest Knit Picks publication – Quick and Cozy.  The Mirzam Hat and Cowl:

I had a lot of fun designing this set. It’s knit in a bulky yarn, and the stitch pattern is a fun one!

I really hope to do better about more regularly posting here this year! I’ve got a big pattern in the works due to come out in the summer that I’m very excited about (a lace shawl!) and more lace for the summer issue of Cast On, and some socks in the works, plus some teaching opportunities I’m working on as well! It’s all set to be a fantastic 2017!

Happy Knitting, and I’ll be posting again soon! 🙂

Flare and Square Scarf

scarf-cropIntroducing my next new pattern: Flare and Square!

Flare and Square is a scarf (in two sizes) designed to stay put over or under a coat.

Knit with A Hundred Ravens Aesir yarn, this scarf is super soft and cozy!

This stylish and unusual scarf is easier to knit than it looks!  The ‘flare’ is created by a simple and easy to memorize lace pattern that leads into ribbing for the body of the scarf.  Simple short rows are used to create a ‘square’ neckline at the top, and the ‘flare’ is then repeated in reverse at the end.

Don’t let winter winds leave you chilled— beat those winter winds ‘Flare and Square’!

Summer Wanes Hat and Cowl

Hi again!  Here’s something I’m really excited about–

The newest Knit Picks pattern book is out:  Creative Color: 2016 Fair Isle Collection.  And I have a pattern in it!!  Meet my ‘Summer Wanes’ Hat and Cowl set:

I’m super happy with how this one turned out!!  The hat and cowl were inspired by Autumnal colors in the mountains of NC.  The hat starts off with corrugated ribbing and features the main leaf motif.  The cowl starts and ends with a garter edge, and has vine borders framing the main leaf motif.  I had a ton of fun designing this one!

I hope you like it! 🙂

Noctilucent Shawl

Hi again!

Have you gotten the newest issue of Knitscene?  Well, you should!  It’s a fantastic issue!  But, on top of that – I have a pattern in it!!

Check out my ‘Noctilucent Shawl’ on page 49.

It’s a bottom up 2 color shawl.  Shawl begins with a ruffled bottom, and then moves into 2 different slipped stitch patterns.  I’m super happy with how it turned out, and it’s a fun knit!  I hope you like it!
