New Project

April 3, 2014April 30, 2021 Heather Storta

I've finally found a new knitting project that I can get excited about!  I'm going to make this next. The Sheherazade Beaded Lace Shawl, by Anna Victoria. Intricate lace - YES PLEASE! With beads, too - DOUBLE YES!  🙂   I'm so excited!! I have a lace shawl on the needles already, but it's pretty 'plain'… Continue reading New Project

Patiently Waiting

March 28, 2014April 30, 2021 Heather Storta

I'm patiently waiting for my level 3 box (or trying to).  It won't come back to me for another 8 weeks or so now, at least.  I hope it made its way safely to the first committee member! I'm doing a few things to keep busy - I'm spinning up some Jacob wool I had gotten… Continue reading Patiently Waiting

Steek Sandwich

March 19, 2014April 30, 2021 Heather Storta

Sounds yummy, right? 😉 In actuality it is a method of dealing with steeks which hides the steek inside a few rows of knitting.  Stitches are picked up through the fabric on the right side, and then stitches are picked up from the loops on the wrong side, and a few rows of knitting are… Continue reading Steek Sandwich

It’s in the mail!

March 18, 2014April 30, 2021 Heather Storta

So, I dropped my Master Knitter Level 3 box in the mail yesterday!!  Now begins the weeks of worrying and waiting to get it back.  I've already started worrying - the post office only had a 12x12x5 box for me to use, so I had to squish the sweater and binder down to get the… Continue reading It’s in the mail!

Sneak Peek

March 14, 2014April 30, 2021 Heather Storta

I know I promised you a post on my handling of the steeks on my sweater (I did a sandwiched steek) - but that will have to wait a couple of days.  I thought you'd like a sneak peek of the finished sweater first!!  She's blocking once more right now, and I'm hoping to get… Continue reading Sneak Peek

Preparing to Steek

February 22, 2014April 30, 2021 Heather Storta

I promised my guild that I would videotape my cutting the steeks for my sweater, so I figured to be thorough I'd do a whole post on the process. 🙂  Stay tuned for the actual video - this post will walk you through leading up to the actual cutting. Just FYI - this is a… Continue reading Preparing to Steek

WiP Wednesday

February 19, 2014April 30, 2021 Heather Storta

I'm almost done with the body of my sweater!!  It should be done later tonight or tomorrow night!  Then I can block it, and steek it and get on with the buttonband and collar.  (Which I still have to swatch for!  I can do that while the sweater is blocking/drying...) Stay tuned...

More Progress

February 6, 2014April 30, 2021 Heather Storta

I'm still plugging away at my sweater! Both sleeves are done and I'm almost to the armhole steeks on the body. I hit a bit of a hiccup early last week when I ran out of one of my colors of yarn!!  I thought for sure I had another ball, but no such luck.  A… Continue reading More Progress

Coming along

January 20, 2014April 30, 2021 Heather Storta

Second sleeve is done, and I've started on the body!  I decided I need to make a little fix on the tops of my sleeves, though, so I'm ripping back the last 4 rows or so and making the change. The ends are slowly being woven in as well.  The upside of doing a cardigan… Continue reading Coming along
